(Description)
As Designtalks, we approached the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) website project with the primary goal of establishing them as the indisputable global authority for Travel & Tourism data and policy. The challenge was translating their highly technical, data-heavy research into a visually accessible, user-friendly, and citable format for a global audience of CEOs, governments, and media.
We built a powerful, bespoke platform designed for content governance and high-speed data access. Key efforts included creating a structured, taxonomy-driven Research Hub for their extensive Economic Impact Research (EIR) and Environmental & Social Research (ESR). We also integrated a secure membership area to facilitate access for their exclusive community of over 200 CEOs and private sector leaders, ensuring that all published content is easy to find, share, and cite.
The critical challenges included:
Data Visualization: Converting complex, annual Economic Impact Research (EIR) data—which is the WTTC’s core asset—into compelling, interactive visuals (charts, maps, and infographics) that are easy to consume and share.
Global Accessibility: Ensuring the platform adhered to international accessibility standards and provided reliable access to high-demand data reports for a global user base, including areas with slower internet speeds.
Our primary objectives for the WTTC platform were:
Elevate Data Credibility: Design the site to showcase the WTTC as the most reliable, cited source of Travel & Tourism data in the world.
Enhance User Utility: Implement advanced search and filtering on the Research Hub to allow immediate access to country- and sector-specific reports
The new WTTC website successfully transformed from a traditional corporate site into a powerful Knowledge Center. The immediate result was a measurable increase in report downloads and media citations. By designing for both humans and AI search engines, the WTTC established greater digital authority, securing its position as the go-to source cited by global media, governments, and CEOs when discussing the economic and social impact of the Travel & Tourism sector.
